Hellen Jeanette Jackson Jackson, age 94, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. She was born on March 26, 1931, in Chambers County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Erby Jackson and Katie Sue Duffee Jackson.

Hellen graduated from Hartsville High School. She then furthered her education and graduated from Emory University and 红桃视频, earning her degree in Education. She established a life rooted in faith, family, and diligent effort. As a distinguished educator for over four decades at Carrollton High School and the University of West Georgia, Hellen left an enduring impact on every student under her guidance.

A devoted wife, loving sister, doting aunt, and true friend, Hellen made everyone around her feel special and loved. She poured herself into those around her, especially her community. She was the Past President of the Carroll-Heard Retired Educators Association as well as the Georgia Retired Educators Association. Hellen also served on the Board of the Friends of the Neva Lomason Library, and as a volunteer at the Barker Book Houses; this was her way of sharing with the community her love for books and literacy. Above all, Hellen loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 70 years, where her faith was both personal and steadfast. She loved her church and her Sunday School Class, where she taught young students about Jesus Christ for over 60 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Daniel Andrew 红桃视频淒.A.红桃视频 Jackson; her sister, Lemerle Abbott; and her brother, Durward Jackson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister-in-law, Marie Ragsdale; brother-in-law, Gene McGukin; niece Jane Lee; and numerous other nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service to celebrate Hellen红桃视频檚 life will be held in the Sanctuary of Tabernacle Baptist Church on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Stephen Allen and Rev. Mary Lou Grimmett officiating. Ashley Strickland and Carol Bourdeau will be sharing eulogies. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Roger Gray, Doug McGukin, Rodney Leopard, Danny Jackson, Jeff Jackson, and Mitch Ragsdale. Those serving as honorary pallbearers are: her great friend, Greg Flanders, and members of The Wheelchair Ministry – Robert Perdue, Shawn O红桃视频橬eal, Kelvin Graham, Steve Jennings, Jim Wallis, and Brad Smith.

Betty, wife of the late Hugh Jesse Johnson, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.聽 She was born on November 11, 1929, in Hartsville, SC to the late Maynard and Etta McInvaille Pate. She attended Coker College; she was a retired secretary for the South Carolina Forestry Commission.聽 Betty was a former bailiff at Kershaw County Courthouse and, volunteer at Kershaw County Medical Center.聽 She was a former president of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, member of the Business and Professional Women红桃视频檚 Club, and Aimin红桃视频橦igh Dance Company.聽 Betty was a longtime member and Sunday School Teacher at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Renee J. Thompson (John); granddaughters, Jesseca Camille 红桃视频淐ammy红桃视频 Thompson (Candace), Laurel T, Simmons (Mike), Jonellen T. Edgerton (EJ), Charleston Hannah聽 Thompson; great-grandchildren, Bayne Simmons, Finley Simmons, Dru Edgerton, Gunner Edgerton, Hugh Zawadzki Thompson, Liam Zawadzki Thompson, brother, Bobby Pate (Beth), and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred Juanita Spivey Floyd, 94, passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2025 at Avendelle Assisted Living in Cary, NC, surrounded by her family.

Juanita红桃视频檚 life was marked by a deep commitment to her family and her church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is reunited in heaven with her husband of 63 years, Bob Burton Floyd. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Estelle Evans Spivey and Walter Roland Spivey, and her siblings WB, Rowland, Betty Ruth, Ann, Sarah, Bobby, Tom and Dan. She is survived by her children, Bob Burton Floyd II (Angela), Walter Mac Floyd (Cindy Schauer), and Timothy Wayne Floyd (Lisa); grandchildren, Mac Floyd (Celeste), Chris Floyd (Sarah), Daniel Floyd (Louise), Melissa Pate (Matt), Tyler Floyd (Juliette), and Alex Haikonen (Fernanda Baldelomar); and great-grandchildren Elle, Easton, Annabelle, Aubrey, Eleanor, and Matthew. She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law Ann Spivey.

Juanita was born on January 13th, 1931 on the Evans Farm in Robeson County, NC. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Coker College and her Master of Education from UNC红桃视频揅hapel Hill, laying the foundation for a 36-year career in education. She served as a math teacher, guidance counselor, Personnel Director for Chapel Hill红桃视频揅arrboro City Schools, and later worked with the NC Department of Education.

She and Bob raised their family in Chapel Hill, spent many years in Lake View, and later returned to Chapel Hill. A devout Christian, Juanita was a member of University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill and Bear Swamp Baptist Church in Lake View. She was also a devoted Tar Heel fan who rarely missed a game and traveled across the country and abroad to cheer on her beloved UNC teams. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love of family, her passion for education and community, and her lifelong devotion to God.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Bear Swamp Baptist Church in Lake View, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the church.

A special thanks to the teams at Avendelle Assisted Living and Transitions LifeCare Hospice for their loving support for Juanita and her family.

Mrs. Hoffmeyer, the widow of Gus Hoffmeyer, Jr., entered into rest on Saturday, May 31, 2025. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family.

A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 o红桃视频檆lock on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hartsville with Rev. Fred McDaniel officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones following the service in All Saints Hall of Wesley United Methodist Church. A family burial will take place privately.

Born in Wellford, South Carolina, Mrs. Hoffmeyer was the daughter of the late Sam M. and Leila D. Snoddy. Mrs. Hoffmeyer graduated from Coker College, during which time she met her late husband. Over the years, Mrs. Hoffmeyer worked for the SCHD with Jim Cox of the Saleeby Law firm and then taught at Hartsville High School for over ten years. She enjoyed family time at the beach, traveling with her husband, Gamecock sports, and many years in Blowing Rock, NC. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Mrs. Hoffmeyer is survived by her four children, Mary Nell (Jimmy) Thomerson and Kay (Dennis) Holley of Hartsville, SC, Gus (Shelly) Hoffmeyer, III of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Meg (Russell) Hyatt of Greer, SC; grandchildren, Jo (Scott) Nelson, Courtney (Mike) Geiger, and Phillip Hunnicutt of Hartsville, SC, Meredith (Cale) Ledford of Duncan, SC, Matt (Marc) Sherwin of New York, NY, and Andrew (Anna Catherine) Miller of Greenville, SC; great-grandchildren, Porter Hunnicutt, Leila Nelson, Eli Geiger, Samara Sherwin, Lucy Ledford, Olivia Ledford, and Johnny Ledford. Mrs. Hoffmeyer is survived by her sister, Margaret Culclasure of Spartanburg, SC; first cousin, Jane Cook of Greer, SC; nephew, Jimmy (Mary) Snoddy of Landrum, SC; niece, Ann (Tommy) Campbell of Woodruff, SC; and nieces and nephews of whom she loved dearly.

Mrs. Hoffmeyer is preceded in death by her husband, Gus Hoffmeyer Jr., her parents, her brother James Snoddy, and her sister Mary Snoddy.

Rachel Collier Flowers joined her heavenly celebration on March 8, 2022, after a long, fulfilling life of service to her family, church, and community.

She was born on February 1, 1931, in Florence, South Carolina, to Thomas Key Collier and Iva Lee Harrison Collier. She graduated from Darlington High School and Coker College before earning a Master红桃视频檚 Degree from Winthrop College. Yet, her passion for education continued throughout her career. She worked in the business school at Coker College and taught typing at Hartsville High School. After taking time to raise her three children, she resumed her career teaching fourth grade and later gifted and talented students at Thornwell Elementary School. Highlights of this time included field trips to New York City to see the Broadway musical Cats.

When she wasn红桃视频檛 in the classroom or with her family, Mrs. Flowers enjoyed playing bridge with friends, attending events at the John L. Hart House, and serving in countless positions at Swift Creek Baptist Church. She was selfless in her dedication to her children, grandchildren, and later great-grandchildren 红桃视频 all of whom made her proud and brought her immense happiness.

She is survived by her sister, Leah Collier Crawford; children, Keith Dargan (Becky) Flowers, Jr., Claire Flowers (John) Shell, and Donald Maurice (Pam) Flowers; grandchildren, Bradley Dargan (Maggie) Flowers, Stephen Keith (Morgan) Flowers, Amy Flowers (Caleb) Miller, Catherine Shell (Martin) Ryan, John Clinton (Kayla) Shell IV, Justin Brooks Flowers, and Peyton Key Flowers; and great-grandchildren, Colton, Weston, Dalton and Charleston Flowers, Anna Crawford and Thomas Flowers, Naomi and Jed Miller, Adelaide, Jack and Theodore Ryan, and Fields Shell.

In addition to her parents and sister Thomasina Collier, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Keith D. Flowers 红桃视频 with whom she has no doubt joyfully reunited.

Betty Lou was born on December 11, 1930, in Marion County and grew up in Centenary, SC, the daughter of Julius LeRoy and Maye Irene LeGette Mace. Betty graduated as valedictorian of Centenary High School in 1947. Her class was the last one to go through eleven grades, so she entered Coker College at the age of 16. Betty graduated with a BA degree in English in 1951, but not before participating in several beauty pageants: 1950 Mullins Tobacco Festival, runner-up 1950 Maid of Cotton Pageant, crowned 1947 Miss Azalea Festival Queen and crowned Miss South Carolina American Legion Queen in 1948.

At Coker, she met her lifelong friend, Lib B. Tiller, and at Lib and Harvey Tiller’s wedding, she met her future husband, Wardlaw Edwin Skinner, Jr. Betty and Ed were married on October 22, 1955, and made their home in Queens, New York. They moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC in 1958, where she became a lifelong resident. Betty was a kind, caring, and thoughtful lady. She was a member of Salem Black River Presbyterian Church. She was preceded by her parents, husband, sister, Margaret M. Floyd, and brothers J. L. Mace, Jr. (Jack) and William LeGette Mace (Billy).

She is survived by twin daughters, Jane S. Edler (Clifford Joseph) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Susan S. Wilson (Edward Heins) of Blythewood, SC, and her son, W. Edwin Skinner, III (Jacqueline Welton) of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: LT. W. E. (Wes) Skinner IV of Norfolk, VA, Michaela Marlies Skinner of Mt. Pleasant, Shannon W. Caldwell (John Heath) of Blythewood, SC and Devin McKenzie Wilson of Wilmington, NC; great-grandchildren: John Heath Caldwell III (Tripp) and Molly Claire Caldwell, both of Blythewood, SC. Elsie Rebecca Vause Matthews, age 90, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2021 at McLeod’s Hospice House, a spiritual place with loving caregivers in Florence, SC . She spent the last 7 years at Presbyterian Home where she received excellent care with lots of kindness

Elsie was born on January 20, 1931 to Julius Benjamin Vause and Olive Langston Vause. Elsie married J.D. Matthews, Jr. on June 12, 1953. Elsie graduated from Coker College and taught Physical Education and coached girls basketball at Poynor Junior High School. She had a Master’s degree in Health Education from USC.

Elsie began playing the piano at a young age. She would get up in the morning to make biscuits and play the piano while they were cooking. She played piano or organ at Sardis Baptist Church and Timmonsville Presbyterian Church. She directed many girls singing trios at Turbeville Children’s Home and Sardis Baptist Church.

Elsie had many loves: God, family, teaching, crossword puzzles, pork rinds, and Ferrero Rocher candy. She designed dresses for her daughters that were beautiful. There was nothing she couldn’t do.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Matthews, Jr., her son, Joseph David Matthews, III, and her brother, Joe Vause. She is survived by her daughters Nannette (Larry), Roxanne(Doug), her grandchildren Wade and Caitlan Matthews, Brian Borgatti, Wes and Paige Barrier, her sister, Margaret Ard, and many extended family members.

Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Bethany Cemetery, Hwy 301, Olanta, SC, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

Due to the current COVID-19 concerns, social distancing will be observed.

Jean Claire Taylor English, age 89, left her earthly home on Monday, December 30, 2019.聽 First and foremost, she was a daughter of the late C. Edward and Clydie S. Taylor; wife of聽 the late Gene Douglas English, mother of Charles Michael English (Teresa) of Beaufort, Kimberly English Mainer (Ted) of Mullins, and Stuart Kennedy English of Mullins; grandmother of Danae Christine English of Savannah, GA and Kasey Catherine English of Charleston, and sister of Shirley Taylor Harris of Mullins.

After graduating from Mullins High School in 1947, she attended Coker College in Hartsville for two years, then transferred to the University of South Carolina in Columbia.聽 Jean Claire and Gene were married on December 26, 1950.聽 When all their children were in school, Jean Claire returned to college at USC and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education in 1969.聽 She taught Business courses at Dentsville High School and then Office Occupations in Wilson Vocational School at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.

In 1972, the English family moved to Mullins, where Gene and Jean Claire took over the Taylor Insurance Agency which later became Taylor/Harris & Webster Insurance Services, Inc.聽 While working with her husband in the business, she continued her teaching career at Mullins Elementary School (5th聽and 6th聽grades), established a computer lab for the school before going to McCormick Elementary to establish a reading and math lab for 3rd聽and 4th聽grades.聽 Before retiring from the school system in 1996, she taught math at Palmetto School to 7th聽and 8th听驳谤补诲别谤蝉.

Until his death in 2014, Jean Claire continued to help Gene with office duties in the business, when she retired to stay at home and catch up on the many projects she had underway.

She was an educator, business woman, historian for the Mullins High School Class of 1947 through 2017 by arranging an annual reunion, and issuing a periodic newsletter (红桃视频淭he Town Crier红桃视频) as well as keeping track of many students before and after her graduating class, a contributor of pictures and stories of football teams from 1924 through 1954 for an exhibit at the South Carolina Museum (红桃视频淢ud, Sweat and Cheers红桃视频), and a student of ancestry, tracing family records as far back as the 1700红桃视频檚 in some cases.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Red Hill Memorial Gardens in Mullins with Reverend Albert Grice officiating.聽 The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Rock Hill (formerly of Florence, SC) 红桃视频 Mrs. Carolyn H. Kendall, 88, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence at 2:30pm.

Born in Chesterfield County, SC, Mrs. Kendall was the daughter of the late John Elmer Huggins and the late Bertice Rollins Huggins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Col. Alex Kendall; her brothers, Elbert Huggins and Charles Huggins; and her sister, Pam Chapman.

She was a graduate of Cheraw High School and Coker College and was retired from the State Forestry Commission with 22 years of service. She was named Outstanding State Female Employee of the Pee Dee in 1982.

She obtained a Private Pilot红桃视频檚 License in 1974 and was a former member of The Civil Air Patrol. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Florence; the Florence Country Club, where she was a golfer and member of The Women红桃视频檚 Golf Association; Past President and member of the Green Thumb Garden Club; and a member of the Florence Symphony Guild.

Surviving are her daughter, Debra E. (Bill) Adkins of Catawba; her son, James Newton (Janet) Elmore Jr. of Titusville, FL; her grandchildren, Eddie (Kori) Adkins, Tammy (Kevin) McGovern, Robin (Jason) Vosler and Brandon (Amber) Elmore; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 am-10:30 am on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Kendall红桃视频檚 name to the charity of one红桃视频檚 choice.
