Judi Shaffer Garrity lives in Greenville, SC, and writes that she and her husband Ed are having no trouble self-isolating since they have so many projects half-done, undone, and on the list to be done at their house. She is grateful to be able to keep up with friends and family on Facebook and FaceTime with great grandchildren in Utah. Judi红桃视频檚 daughter lives in nearby Piedmont.

Liles Richardson Nickerson writes that she has been spending her self-isolation in a fog, but reports anything but. Liles has planted a small, raised garden which she enjoys. She has also
closed down her home Interior Design office of 40 years which was an emotional task: going through hundreds of pounds of beautiful furniture catalogues, fabric swatch books, and paint
swatches. Liles红桃视频檚 career took her to Taiwan, Vancouver, Colorado, Camden, Maine, and all over Georgia.

Joanne Waldrop Thomason normally is very busy enjoying friends, playing bridge, gardening, church activities, and serving on several community boards. During her isolation, she has planted a vegetable garden at church that will provide fresh produce for their food bank and shut-in residents in the community. Joanne has two daughters. Kathryn lives in Largo, Florida, and teaches elementary school. Kathryn红桃视频檚 son is an FSU graduate and lives in Jacksonville, her older daughter is a freshman at the University of Florida, and her younger daughter is a junior in high school. Caroline and her family live on Lake Murray in Chapin, SC. Her daughter is a freshman at Auburn and her son is a sophomore in high school.

Mellie Ertzberger Motes and Mickey Harder have had fun watching our granddaughters play on the same church basketball team in Greenville. Our granddaughters are little fireballs, and we are not shy about pulling for them. Mellie keeps the road hot traveling to see her grandkids, and she often sees multiple games on any one day.

Linda Crews Pearson and husband went to the mountains near Tennessee in mid-March and plan to stay through April. 红桃视频淵红桃视频檃ll take care of yourselves.红桃视频

Judy Johnson Walker and husband John had dinner with Byron and Mickey Harder when they came to a Clemson game, and we loved catching up and reminiscing about Coker. Judy writes, 红桃视频淗artsville continues to grow each year, and we love this little college town. Johnny is beginning to adjust to the idea that there could possibly be no 红桃视频渇ootball season红桃视频 at Clemson this fall. I don红桃视频檛 know how we can survive without football.红桃视频

Mickey Harder – Byron and I are spending part of our isolation on Edisto Island where we boat, crab, and fish at our cottage. Our three grandchildren all play sports, and we miss going to baseball, soccer, and lacrosse games. I continue to love retirement, and I still guest lecture to various performing arts classes. ZOOM has been a new adventure for me.

Heather Lee Raum, 76 years old, of Bracey, Virginia, passed away on July 20, 2020 in the loving comfort of her family after a two-year battle with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer.

Heather was born in New Jersey, to Kenneth and Rosemary. The third of four siblings, she was raised in a vibrant household filled with music, adventure, hijinks, creativity, love and discovery. She graduated from Plainfield High School and earned a teaching degree from Coker College in South Carolina. Returning from Christmas break, she met her future husband, a young Air Force airman, Richard Raum in a Florence, South Carolina train station. Upon Richard’s return from Vietnam, they were married on a snowy Christmas Eve in 1966, and settled in Wilmington, Delaware. She taught in elementary schools for several years before becoming a mother. Her own experiences as a young mother led Heather to cofound the Early Learning Center in the Hockessin United Methodist Church. One of her life accomplishments was cultivating a partnership of passionate teachers and engaged parents that recognized the potential of each child, inspired them to explore the world, and launched them into the joy of lifelong learning. After raising their children in Delaware, including a brief stint in Fairport, New York, Heather and Richard moved to Bracey, Virginia. There, Heather found time to paint and craft. She didn’t just enjoy retired life, she flourished joining the Flying Aqua Babes (FABs), Not So Serious Golf, Lake Gaston Ladies Club, the Lake Gaston Art Guild and various supper clubs. She loved the water and could often be found swimming across the lake, waterskiing, kayaking or just floating with family. She was commonly seen jet skiing in her pink life vest, surrounded by paints and arts and crafts supplies in her art room, or gathered with friends and family. A person of seemingly boundless energy, she also volunteered at the VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital and the South Hill Bread Box.

Heather is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 53 years, Richard, their three children Merritt (spouse Greg), Rebecca (spouse Chad) and Dwight (spouse Allyson) and adored grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan, Carter, Claire and Averlie. She is also survived by her siblings Noel (spouse Shirley), Allan (spouse Janie), and Holly (spouse Larry)A dockside celebration of Heather’s life will occur on a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Special thanks to the staff at the VCU Hendrick Oncology Center, South Hill Farrar Funeral Home is serving the Raum family.
