As we come out of the Covid restricted year, we all welcome the news of our class.

Reveley Wilson Thomy – Happy to say she is all better after contracting the Covid virus.

Miriam Anderson – She and John are happy to report they are moving to Franklin, NC soon to begin the next chapter of their lives. John just retired from American Airlines. We wish them the best. Miriam红桃视频檚 grandson, Cooper just turned 10 years old and lives up in NY state with his mom, Kristen. Miriam has three other grandchildren from her son, Ryan.

Betsy Mauldin McCray – After a fall incident on her horse, Betsy is almost recovered from her injuries and ready to ride again. Glad you are doing better, Bruce!

Susie Dunklin Guerry – Busy as ever with volunteering, sewing, decorating for others and camping, she continues to embrace retirement. She even sews for third world women! Susie also helps out at the local market on the weekend. She and Bert went camping in May to Tennessee, NC and Georgia. They are really enjoying their new bigger camper.

Diane Roden Dinneny – Life has been a bit more challenging this year with keeping Owen红桃视频檚 cancer under control. Clinical trials, radiation and traveling to the cancer center each week keeps us busy. I am still doing some real estate during these crazy times with limited inventory and multiple offers. Hope to head up to the Adirondack mountains in July for a change of scenery. Finally also met my 15 month old great nephew from CA. Girls are good; another Masters for Kate and a new job as Digital Creative Concepts Manager for Megan. I have also enjoyed catching up with Sally Rogers Boyle, my freshman roommate these past few months.

Debbie Scarboro Snyder – Debbie has also been in touch with Sally and Penny and know they are planning a get together in Greenville with her. Prayers for Debbie红桃视频檚 dad红桃视频檚 wife who has had some health issues.

Jackie Szczepanik – Is looking for news of our class as she doesn红桃视频檛 get the Commentary mailed to her in Australia. If anyone can scan the pages from our past ones and send her that might work. Still don红桃视频檛 have her address or email!

I really wish we would get some more news from our class members! Enjoy the summer everyone.

Richard C. “Dick” Stinson, 78, of Hartsville, passed away peacefully on March 10,2021. Born July 4, 1942 in Owosso, Michigan he was the son of the late Bernard Oliver and Myra Krull Stinson.

After graduating high school in 1960, he joined the United States Marines Corps, traveled, and saw the world. While stationed on the Shangri-La aircraft carrier with Squadron VMF 251, he was an airplane mechanic, working on F-8 Crusaders, the first jets to break the speed of sound. When stateside, he was at the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, South Carolina.

In 1963 Dick met and married Faye Bickley, the love of his life. Dick earned a degree in computer programming from Richland Technical College and later a B.A. in Business Administration from Coker College. He and Faye moved to Hartsville in 1969 when he was employed by Sonoco Products Company. He retired as a manager of information technology after 30 years at SPC.

Dick loved golf, both playing and traveling with Faye to watch tournaments. He was a go-to man for sports trivia and loved his teams from Detroit. He and Faye enjoyed traveling to Florida for Detroit Tigers spring training. They also enjoyed cruises, long road trips, and their annual apple-picking trips in Hendersonville, NC.

Dick loved his family and, above all else, he loved the Lord. He was a faithful member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hartsville, where he served as financial secretary for 18 years. One of his favorite things was exploring the Word of God, reading his Bible daily.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife Faye Stinson, son Clint Stinson, daughter Caroline (Jeff) Privette, grandson Matthew Privette, brother Don (Diane) Stinson, in-laws Sandra Ouzts, Jake (Cathey) Bickley, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Jake Sr. and Alda Bickley, brother Ron Stinson, and special brother-in-law Malcolm Ouzts.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon, March 13th, 2021, from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with Reverend Rusty Kehl officiating. The family requests that everyone in attendance please wear a mask and use social distancing. A private family burial will follow the service.

Jay Bradford Bloomer, 42, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born October 19, 1976 in Kingsport, TN, he was the son of Arlene Payne and Dalton Bloomer and his wife Janet. Jay was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School in Kingsport and the University of Tennessee. He was a Regional Vice President for HMR Veterans Services, Inc.

In addition to his parents and step-mother, he is survived by his wife, Meg Bloomer; sons, Brooks and Miles, and daughter, Elle; sister, Claire Hemphill, her husband Brian, and their children, Lila and Leo of Nashville, TN; step-sister Katy Niehaus, her husband Kevin, and their children, Eliza Rose and Emmerson of Little Rock, AR; step-brother Andy Faulk, his wife Laura, and their son Milo of Tokyo, Japan; uncle, Eddie Payne, his wife Kathy, and their daughters, Monica and Alison; aunt, Kay Joiner; and grandmother, Ruby Bloomer.

In addition to his own family, Jay loved Meg’s family as his own. He is also survived by his mother and father in-law Sonny and Carol Kinney; his sister in-law, Libba Pena, her husband Kyle, and their children, Easton and Colton.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Arlie and Blanche Payne and JB Bloomer.

“The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” Jay loved this beautiful quote, and he dedicated his life to the principle. Always the first to volunteer to help others, he never hesitated to give you the shirt off his back, expecting nothing in return.

Jay’s charismatic and witty personality lifted all who were drawn into his circle. He never encountered a stranger – only friends he had not yet met – and touched so many lives with his kindness, compassion, friendship, and love.

A devoted husband, father, son, and brother, Jay drew strength from his family and from his faith. All of us were touched deeply by Jay, and our hearts ache to see him leave us so soon. But he is now healed and with his Heavenly Father.

We are so grateful for the care and compassion he received from his physicians and nurses at Emory University Hospital and the Winship Cancer Institute as well as Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital and the Prisma Health Cancer Institute.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Central Presbyterian Church with Dr. Alex Campbell and Rev. Matthew Icard officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E Calhoun St, Anderson, SC 29621 or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, 107 Westpark
