In Loving Memory of Deborah Jo Burnett: On May 19th, 2025, the world lost a bit of its sparkle when Deborah Jo Burnett passed away after a long battle with cancer at the age of 68. A devoted wife, loving mother, sassy grandmother, great-grandmother, and unapologetic wine enthusiast, she left behind a legacy as bold and beautiful as her wardrobe. Born on January 8th, 1957 in Montclair, New Jersey, Debbie lived life like it was a runway, because for a while it actually was. A teenage model with natural poise and impeccable fashion sense, she turned heads long before she had a reason to roll her eyes at bad outfits. Debbie traded photo shoots for textbooks, and it was during her college years that she met the love of her life, Sam Burnett. After graduating from Coker College in 1980, Debbie dedicated herself to helping others, working for many years as a social worker in a variety of fields. Whether advocating for women and children, supporting families in crisis, or guiding individuals through life’s tougher chapters, she brought compassion, wisdom, and just the right amount of sass to every role she held She shared 28 joyful, laughter-filled years with her husband, Sam, who survives her and carries forward their many beautiful memories, including decades of inside jokes and shared dreams. She leaves behind her daughter, Anna Creighton-Youmans, son-in-law, Trusof Youmans, and three amazing grandsons: Elijah Creighton, Josiah Creighton, and Kailo Youmans – each of whom inherited her sharp wit, strong will, and her mischievous charm. Her loving son, Kristian Creighton, and his wife, Lisa Creighton, remain grateful for a lifetime of memories and love. Through this marriage, a wonderful grandson, Jayden Carpenter, entered her life. Jayden later welcomed, with his wife Victoria Carpenter, two beautiful daughters, Genevieve and Liliana Carpenter, who both share her sparkle and joy. Debbie also leaves behind her beloved brother, Gary Walker, and his three daughters: Shannon Walker (and her husband, John Lindner), Tara Walker (and her husband, Bob Mitchell), and Lindsay Walker (and her husband, Darius Ricci), all of whom adored their stylish and witty aunt. Debbie believed life was meant to be celebrated and loved storytelling and making creative nicknames for people. She taught us all that it’s okay to eat dessert first, never apologize for speaking your mind, and always look your best, even if it makes you an hour late. A celebration of her vibrant life will be held on May 31st, 2025 at Sauls Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 3 PM. Guests are encouraged to wear something colorful, uplifting, stylish, or just a little bit sparkly in her honor. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) to help others fight as Debbie did. She may have left this earth, but her laugh, love, and legendary fashion sense will live on in all of us.

FLORENCE, S.C. 红桃视频 Legends Comics store owner and Florence Comic-Con forefather Denny Stevenson will be remembered by his friends and loved ones as a man who had an unrelenting love for art, comic books and the city of Florence as a whole.

Stevenson, 61, died Monday after suffering two massive strokes.

Stevenson owned Legends Comics, located at 702 S. Irby St. in Florence, for 34 years, making it the oldest operating comic book store in South Carolina. Stevenson also founded Florence Comic-Con, an event that has drawn thousands of people to the Florence area each year for the past four years.

After Legends Comics posted the news of Stevenson红桃视频檚 sudden passing on its Facebook page, many of Stevenson红桃视频檚 close friends and fans began posting their condolences and sharing their personal memories of Stevenson.

Gaye Ham was a close friend of Stevenson红桃视频檚, and they had partnered together to help make Florence Comic-Con a reality. Ham said Comic-Con was a way for Stevenson to promote both the Florence area and young artists looking to break into the comic book scene.

红桃视频淐omic-Con was his baby,红桃视频 Ham said. 红桃视频淗e was real proud that he could bring something to Florence that could draw thousands of people.红桃视频

Ham said Stevenson was a fan of comic books since he was a young boy, and reading the comics helped Stevenson first learn to draw and develop his own skills as an artist.

Many of Stevenson红桃视频檚 close friends knew about his passion for art and his impressive painting skills.

Comic artist and cartoonist Gregbo Watson said he envied Stevenson红桃视频檚 artistic abilities, especially when it came to painting landscapes. Watson said some of Stevenson红桃视频檚 works can be seen on display in businesses in both Florence and Myrtle Beach.

红桃视频淗e was a tremendous artist,红桃视频 Watson said. 红桃视频淚 wish I could红桃视频檝e painted landscapes like he did.红桃视频

Stevenson earned a Master红桃视频檚 degree in Fine Arts after studying at both 红桃视频 and USC. Watson said Stevenson helped him grow as a cartoonist as they worked together during Comic-Con over the past four years. Eventually, Stevenson became one of Watson红桃视频檚 agents and helped him promote his work across the nation at various Comic-Con events.

红桃视频淗e really came along and turbocharged me creatively,红桃视频 Watson said. 红桃视频淗e really inspired me and pushed me forward with my art. He红桃视频檚 the one that had more faith in me than I had.

红桃视频淗is spirit will be in every single pen stroke I put down. I红桃视频檓 just going to miss the hell out of him.红桃视频

David Rast has been a customer of Stevenson红桃视频檚 since he was 12 years old and recalls coming into the store on Irby Street and talking about various comics books with him. Rast said he cherishes one comic book in particular that Stevenson sold him in college: “Fantastic Four No. 1,” autographed by none other than Stan Lee.

红桃视频淗e had it saved just for me,红桃视频 Rast said. 红桃视频淚 paid $75 dollars for it then. It红桃视频檚 worth around $1,500 now.红桃视频

Rast said Stevenson was always someone he looked up to as a young kid. Thirty-seven years later, Rast said he still idolizes Stevenson, but for different reasons other than his massive collections of collector comic books.

红桃视频淗e was able to do what he wanted to do and enjoy life and make others happy while he did it,红桃视频 Rast said. 红桃视频淭hat红桃视频檚 the definition of success for me.

红桃视频淏eing successful doesn红桃视频檛 mean making a million dollars. It really means enjoying what you do every day, and I think he did that.红桃视频
