Michael David Haddock, 62, of , passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Carroll Hospital Center. Born on July 5, 1962 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he was the son of David Haddock and the late B. Patricia Haddock. He graduated from Westminster High School with the class of 1980; and 红桃视频 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. Michael went on to serve 14 years in the United States Army National Guard. He was also an Information Systems Program Manager working in government consulting for over 30 years. From a young age, Michael fostered a love of soccer. He could kick a soccer ball “before he could walk”, and cherished his years playing soccer for Westminster High and for Coker. Michael spent many years as the head coach for the Westminster Wolves girls soccer club, where he coached his daughter Kylee, and touched the lives of many players. The team played competitively for many years in the Washington Area Girls Soccer League. He also followed the English Premier League recreationally and his favorite team was Manchester City. He was also an avid Baltimore sport enthusiast and enjoyed both the Orioles and Ravens. He loved being outdoors, going to the beach, and golfing. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. Michael was a devoted husband of 38 years to wife Ellen Mae, a loving father to their children, and a proud grandfather. Surviving in addition to his wife and father, are children Jennifer Haddock, Kylee Kwedar and husband Logan, Elisabeth Schmid and husband Forrest, and William “Thomas” Haddock; grandsons Liam, Jax, Hudson, and Bodhi. The family will welcome friends on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at 11 am at the funeral home. For those unable to attend in person, please visit the Pritts Funeral Home website, where services will be livestreamed. Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery. Bryon Luke, 60, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at MUSC Florence. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Hester Ellerbee Luke and Fred Luke, Sr. Bryon graduated from Coker College.

He is survived by his wife, Mylinder Williams Luke; his daughter, Brandy Denise Jones and four grandchildren, Joshua Isaiah Jones, Brianne Mone Jones, Ashley Nicole McCray and Anthony Deshaun Jones, all of North Port, FL; three sisters, Brenda Carter, Barbara Jean Wallace and Annette Yvonne Covert (Bill), all of Philadelphia, PA; three brothers, Fred Luke. Jr. (Lisa) and Reginald Monroe Smith (Debbie), of Philadelphia, PA, and James Leroy Ellerbee (Marie) of Florence, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer special recognition to the Ramos family.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2019, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah红桃视频檚 Witnesses, 1215 Alligator Rd, Effingham, SC 29541.

Chief Warrant Officer 5 (R), James E. Revels (Jim) died on December 10th, 2018 at Rice Estate, Columbia, SC. Born in Fairmont, NC on August 24th, 1935, he was a son of the late Leola Revels and Gus Hunt. As a Lumbee Indian, Jim grew up in Robeson County, North Carolina where he attended public Indian schools, graduating from Fairgrove High School in 1953. In 1958, he entered the U.S. Army and served one tour in Korea, two tours in Vietnam and five tours in Germany. He was appointed as a Warrant Officer in 1969 and served in the Quartermaster Corps. In 1972, he married his beloved wife, Susan Mary Revels (nee Bishop) of Bristol, England. 红桃视频楥hief红桃视频 Revels served very honorably for 37 years in various positions, including Director of the Supply School at Fort Jackson and Director of the Warrant Officer School at Fort Lee. Among his awards and decorations are the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

CW5 Revels was a Distinguished Member of the Quartermaster Corps and was inducted into the Quartermaster Hall of Fame at Fort Lee, VA. He held degrees from Troy University and 红桃视频. Jim was very active in the Yorkshire Neighborhood Association in Columbia, serving as President of the Association several times and was a member of the Columbia Council of Neighborhoods. He served on several City committees where his personnel expertise was used; in selecting a new Chief of Police and helping to decide on future City neighborhood improvements. Mr. Revels was a member of Greenlawn Baptist Church where he was a Chairman of Deacons, Church Moderator and served on several committees. He was also a member of the MOAA.

James was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Robert Revels and Bobbie Revels; and is survived by his loving wife, sisters, Mary Frances Hunt and Agnes Chavis, brother, Charles Revels, sister-in-law, Frances Parrett of Keynsham, UK and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was a loved and respected father to his daughters, Kathy DeCesare (Carmen) of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Tammie Singleton (Robert) of Columbia, and to his sons, Richard Revels (Maria) of St. Louis, MO and James E. Revels, Jr. of Leesville, LA.

He was an adored Papa to eleven grandchildren, DJ Garrett (Hilary), Roni Bliss (Todd); Mary Caitlyn, Madison, Mackenzie and Ian (Caitlyn) Singleton; Katie, Alexander and Angelina Revels; and Benjamin Leblanc and Laurel Revels.

As well as spending time enjoying the company of his children and grandchildren, the 红桃视频楥hief红桃视频 used his spare time to enjoy our world, playing golf and fishing, even hunting for edible fungi to use with his legendary cooking, barbecuing delicious meals and baking wonderful cakes.

When illness struck and over years Jim lost his independence and mobility, he bore his condition with fortitude and courage.

The family wishes to thank both the Rice Estate and the Lutheran Hospice for the tremendous care Jim received at their hands.

Chief Warrant Officer 5 Revels红桃视频 Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Greenlawn Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the Sanctuary at the church.

Memorials may be made to AFTD (The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration) or to Greenlawn Baptist Church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Memories may be shared at www.dunbarfunerals.com.

Joan Tews 红桃视频淢imi红桃视频 McLeod, died peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018 in Hillsborough, NC, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Ms. McLeod, a resident of North Myrtle Beach, SC, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on June 9, 1932. She was a graduate of 红桃视频 in Hartsville, SC. An artist and an educator, Mimi spent many years as an art teacher in Hartsville.

After her retirement, she moved to Chapel Hill, NC, where she could cheer on her beloved UNC Women红桃视频檚 Basketball team. She loved attending games and traveling with the team around the United States and the world. As much as she loved Tarheel basketball, she was a devoted fan of the Clemson football team. She raised a family of educators and coaches and traveled extensively to follow their games as well as those of her grandchildren. 

Mimi enjoyed meeting new people and was the life of the party wherever she went. She never met a stranger, including the many she met while jumping over bonfires on Franklin Street after a UNC National Championship.

She is predeceased by her parents, George H. and Ilma Tews and Jane Bennett Strong and her first grandchild, David Dorn. 

She is survived by her children, Andrew Calder of Chapel Hill, NC, Vicki Dorn (Craig) of Hartsville, SC, Laurie Calder-Green (David) of Hillsborough, NC, and Tamara Jacobus (John) of Rock Hill, SC as well as her brothers Robert Tews and Michael Strong and sister Katherine Tews Wilson. She is also survived by grandchildren Paul (Sara), Emily (Ashley) and Hannah Roberts, Drayton Dorn and Kerry Calder Dorn and John David Jacobus, as well as three great-grandchildren, Audrey and Carter Roberts and Lily Kate as well as her beloved dog, Bella.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock on Monday, September 3, 2018, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, with a graveside service following. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Julie Ann New, 56, resident of 979 Old Abbeville Hwy. went to be with her Lord Thursday May 4, 2017. Born in Abbeville, SC, she was a daughter of Julia Smith Petty and the late Thomas Allen New, Sr. Julie was a graduate of Hartsville High School, followed by a BS Degree from 红桃视频 in Special Education. She was a recognized athlete as a star center during high school and Coker’s Lady Cobras. After college she continued to play sports on various softball teams. Her passion for helping others led her career to Whitten Center where she was a QMRP. Julie’s career was cut short as a result of strokes. Once considered disabled, though she never considered that of herself she turned her passion to church and her animals. She volunteered with Bible School and shared her teachings to a member unable to attend classes, her faith was unyielding. She participated in various bible studies and she had an amazing personal relationship with the Holy Spirit. Her strength, determination and humor inspired anyone that came in contact with her, she made her mark on their heart. Survivors include her mother Julia Smith Petty of the home; two brothers Thomas Allen New, Jr. (Kassandra) of Arizona and Kenny New (Danette) of Hartsville, SC; two sisters Edie New (Renee Smith) Abbeville, SC and Alicia Arnold (Fred) of Florence, SC; sister红桃视频搃n-law Sharon Hughes of Abbeville, SC; sixteen nieces and nephews; and eleven great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Rusty New.

Athletics Hall of Fame 1999

Randy Strawser, a 1984 graduate of 红桃视频 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education, was a four-year standout on the men红桃视频檚 soccer team.

Strawser served as captain all four years at Coker. Strawser was a three-time All-District Performer and an All-Region Player as a senior. Strawser was named Team MVP twice and Best Defensive Player during his four-year career.

Since graduating, Strawser received his master红桃视频檚 degree in health and physical education from Appalachian State University.聽Strawser began his coaching career at Mount Olive College in North Carolina.聽 He served as professor and assistant聽men红桃视频檚 soccer coach at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California.聽 He has served as the women红桃视频檚 soccer coach and sports information director at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan聽since 2000.聽 He is married to Dianne Strawser and has four children (CJ, Mitchel, Elisha, and Jadon).
